The Mets used a five-run eighth inning to break a 5-5 tie. Araúz was the star of the game at the plate as he had a solo home run to start the scoring and a two-run triple in the sixth that tied the game at four.

Lavender and Curtiss were able to shut out the Red Wings for the final 3 1/3 innings of the game. Neither pitcher allowed a single fly out and they combined to strike out five of the 12 batters they faced.

Mcllwain had a multi-hit game and hit a solo home run in the top of the third. It was his 11th multi-hit game of the year. He has now hit a home run in back-to-back games. Ritter also ended up having his third multi-hit performance in the last six games.

Even though the Rumble Ponies got out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning, the pitching staff ended up allowing at least one run in five of the last six innings that the Curve came to the plate. In addition, the four pitchers combined for only three strikeouts.

Game 1

Jersey Shore BlueClaws (26-22) 3, Brooklyn Cyclones (21-27) 2 in 8 innings

Mena scored the only two runs for Brooklyn in the doubleheader with a two-run single in the top of the fifth. With a double in Game 1, Parada has 14 doubles on the year and he extended his hit streak to eight games.

Stuart picked up the no-decision in his outing and he has gone five innings or more in four straight appearances. He has allowed one earned run or fewer in six straight starts.

Ankeney was making his Brooklyn debut and the 20th round pick in last year’s draft has still yet to allow a run this year (seven outings between Low-A and High-A).

Game 2

Estep got the scoring started for the Cyclones in the top of the first with an RBI single. It was his third RBI in the four games played in the series. Ramírez came in the game as a pinch-hitter in the fourth and he had a single in the top of the seventh and scored to cut Brooklyn’s deficit to one.

In the loss, Colina still had his longest outing of the season and the 22-year-old ended up having a new season-high with six strikeouts. It was the reliever’s first start of the season.

While Williams only had one hit, he did ended up stealing three bases and drawing three walks. His 17 stolen bases are the fifth most of any player in the Florida State League.

Reimer had a new season-high with four RBIs and it was his RBI double that tied the game at six in the top of the seventh. As for Tilien, he has driven in a run in three of the last five games.

Despite having three or more walks for the third straight start, Ventura ended up striking out five batters for the fourth-consecutive outing and the fifth time in his last six appearances. Loper ended up coming in after Ventura and tied a season-high with five strikeouts of his own.

Bartnicki got his second save of the year and he ended up tying a season-high with four strikeouts as the Mets won a game that took 3 hours, 11 minutes to finish and had a 2 hour and 16 minute rain delay before first pitch.
