Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (16-19) 8, Buffalo Bisons (14-21) 7

BOX SCORE

The Mets were able to rally in this game with a five-run eighth inning. After a Locastro triple and a Cedrola single had cut the deficit to 5-4, Mauricio tied the game with a double to left. Then, Vientos gave Syracuse the lead with his third RBI single of the night.

Vientos continues to make his case for a call-up as he had three hits in a ballgame six different times this year and he has driven in three or more runs on four different occasions. He has six RBIs in the last three games. Mauricio has had five multi-hit games in May and has five doubles in the last eight games.

There was a debut tonight at Triple-A as Sánchez played his first game with the Mets organization as he had a single in the third and in the fifth. However, he did have a passed ball in the win.

  • RHP José Butto (3.46 ERA): 3 1/3 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 3 H, 4 BB, 3 K, WP, HBP (46 of 83 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP Eric Orze (9.22): 1 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, BB, 2 K (18 of 31 pitches for strikes)

The 28-year-old southpaw has not allowed an earned run in five straight outings and the three strikeouts he had ties a season-high. Lavender got the final out for his first Triple-A save and his fifth overall going back to his time in Binghamton. He has not allowed an earned run in seven straight appearances.
