The Syracuse Mets were postponed due to weather and all three Mets affiliates lost on Thursday, despite Randy Guzman hitting his third home run in two games for St. Lucie and Dylan Ross beginning his rehab assignment.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (8-9) vs Buffalo Bisons (10-7)

Syracuse and Buffalo were rained out and will be making their game up on Friday, April 18th, at 12:35 pm as part of a doubleheader.

Double-A

Binghamton Rumble Ponies (5-6) 0, Akron RubberDucks (8-4) 5

BOX SCORE

Binghamton only had three hits on the day and went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Jacob Reimer has struggled so far this season, striking out in nearly a third of his at-bats, but four of his five hits have gone for extra bases.

  • RHP Will Watson (4.09 ERA) 4 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K (44 of 74 pitches for strikes)

Will Watson had another quality outing, though some control issues did not allow him to pitch deep into the game. Jefry Yan had two strikeouts and was the only Rumble Ponies pitcher to not allow a run.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (3-8) 6, Greensboro Grasshoppers (9-3) 7

BOX SCORE

Antonio Jimenez hit his second home run in as many games and Colin Houck looks to have broken out of a funk with a big game. With the Cyclones down 7-4 in the ninth, they attempted a rally but came up short. Yohairo Cuevas has started the season slowly with a .521 OPS, but had his only hit on Thursday go for a triple.

  • RHP Noah Hall (4.40 ERA) 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 HR allowed (48 of 85 pitches for strikes
  • *REHAB* LHP A.J. Minter (0.00 ERA) 1 IP, 1 H, 1 unearned run, 1 K

Noah Hall put together another solid outing, but for the third consecutive start hit a batter. He is striking out almost a batter an inning, but has allowed a hit an inning. A.J. Minter had an unearned run on his ledger due to two passed balls by Daiverson Gutierrez.

Low-A

St. Lucie Mets (5-7) 6, Daytona Tortugas (5-7) 8

BOX SCORE

  • SS Elian Peña – 0-for-4, 1 BB (.857 OPS)
  • 2B Sam Robertson – 1-for-4, 2B, 1 BB, 1 K (.854 OPS)
  • DH Randy Guzman – 1-for-4, 2 R, HR (3), 1 RBI (10) (.764 OPS)
  • 3B Branny De Oleo – 1-for-3, 1 R, HR (1), 2 RBI (7), 1 BB, 2 K (.620 OPS)

Elian Peña didn’t manage a hit today, but he did reach base. Randy Guzman hit his third home run in two days, almost doubling his OPS in the last week alone. Branny De Oleo hit his first full-season home run for St. Lucie in the ninth inning. AJ Salgado went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Salgado has continued to impress in his young career despite being undrafted.

  • *REHAB* RHP Dylan Ross (0.00 ERA) 1 IP, 1 H
  • *REHAB* LHP Nate Lavender (13.50 ERA) 1 1/3 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

Dylan Ross, in his first rehab appearance, pitched a scoreless inning. Nate Lavender was also in a rehab appearance and fared much worse, giving up five runs while walking two.
