AAA: Game One (F/7) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (21-36) 3, Syracuse Mets (20-36) 0 Box Score

Syracuse managed only four hits as they were shut out by Jhony Brito and the RailRiders in Friday’s opener.

Daniel Johnson had the Mets’ lone extra-base hit, a two-out double in the fifth inning. Johnson is slashing just .182/.171/.303 in 10 games with Syracuse.

Fisher pitched well in the start, scattering two hits and three walks over three scoreless innings. Trey Cobb would take the loss in relief, allowing three runs in the fifth inning. Cobb has allowed 12 runs (eight earned) in 12.1 innings since his callup from AA-Binghamton.

AAA: Game Two (F/7) Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (22-36) 6, Syracuse Mets (20-37) 4 Box Score

The Mets staged a late comeback in Game 2 after falling into a 6-0 hole but would ultimately come up short as they were swept in the doubleheader.

Daniel Palka got Syracuse on the board with his 12th home run of the year, a two-run shot in the 6th inning. Travis Blankenhorn drove in another two with a base hit in the 7th, his third hit of the game. Blankenhorn is now 16-for-34 to start the month of June with a pair of home runs.

Rodriguez was roughed up for four runs on five hits (including two doubles and a home run) in the first inning. Locke St. John calmed things down out of the bullpen, holding the RailRiders scoreless for three innings.

Bryce Montes de Oca managed to allow just a single run despite loading the bases with no outs. Montes de Oca has allowed three runs in four innings since his promotion from AA-Binghamton.

AA: New Hampshire Fisher Cats (26-28) 4, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (20-34) 0 Box Score

The Rumble Ponies managed only two hits Friday, a double from Francisco Alvarez and a Brett Baty bunt-single, as they were blanked by the Fisher Cats.

Alvarez has been red-hot to start the month of June, slashing .310/.344/.828 with three doubles and four home runs in 29 at-bats. Baty has also swung the bat well since his IL stint, with nine hits (including a home run) in 25 at-bats.

Vargas was tagged with the loss Friday despite a solid outing. The 23-year-old right-hander has allowed just one run in his last two starts after allowing six in each of his previous two.

Hunter Parsons allowed his first run in 3.1 innings since his promotion from High-A Brooklyn. Hejka’s streak of seven consecutive scoreless innings was snapped on an RBI double in the ninth. He’d allow another run later in the inning on a balk.

A+: Aberdeen IronBirds (38-16) 4, Brooklyn Cyclones (22-31) 3 Box Score

The Cyclones dropped a seventh-straight game in a one-run loss to the IronBirds.

JT Schwartz drove in Brooklyn’s first run in the opening inning to start a 4-for-4 night. The first baseman is now slashing .371/.421/.457 in June.

Jaylen Palmer snapped a 2-f0r-17 stretch with a solo home run in the second inning before Jose Peroza tied the game in the seventh inning with an RBI triple before Aberdeen reclaimed the lead in the eighth.

Mike Vasil delivered his first quality start with Brooklyn, striking out eight in six innings. The right-hander has struck out seven or more in each of his first three starts in High-A and now sports a 10.62 K/9 in 50 innings between Brooklyn and St. Lucie.

Cam Opp took the loss after allowing a home run in the eighth inning.

A: St. Lucie Mets (36-18) 2, Jupiter Hammerheads (28-25) 4 Box Score

St. Lucie scored two runs on nine hits as they fell to the Jupiter Hammerheads.

De Los Santos opened the scoring in the third inning with an RBI single. The 22-year-old outfielder would add a double in the seventh inning and a stolen base. De Los Santos is now second in the FSL (and first in the Mets’ system) with 28 stolen bases.

Carlos Dominguez drove in St. Lucie’s second run with a solo home run in the eighth inning. The 22-year-old Dominguez now has a .842 OPS and leads the Mets organization with 13 home runs.

Meanwhile, Alex Ramirez continues to slump after his blistering start to the year. The 19-year-old has seven hits (just two for extra bases) in his last 46 at-bats.

Ziegler took the loss Friday, allowing all three runs on a Khalil Watson home run in the third inning. The home run is just the second allowed by Ziegler in 34.1 innings this year. The 19-year-old has a K/9 rate of 14.42 while holding opponents to a .126 batting average.

Jeffery Colon was excellent in 4.2 innings of relief allowing just a run on two hits while striking out five.

Complex League: FCL Mets (3-1) 3, FCL Nationals (2-2) 1 Box Score

Perozo, the Mets’ number 25 prospect according to Baseball America, recorded his first extra-base hit of the season with an RBI double in the first inning.  Hector Rodriguez is 4-for-8 to start FCL play.

Juan, the Mets’ top international signee this year, had one of only two hits for the Mets as they were shut out by the Nationals.
