Syracuse’s pitching struggled on Tuesday night. Starter Tomas Szapucki was the highlight, looking strong. He struck out six over the course of three innings pitched. Syracuse’s bullpen continued to struggle, however and continues to struggle to keep their ERA elevated, with Reed, Diaz, and Orze all with ERA’s over 11.

Mets 2021 4th round draft pick JT Schwartz was 2-for-3, with three runs and a double. Brandon McIlwain, a 2019 26th round draft pick (to Miami) was 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBI’s. But it was DH Jose Mena who was the hero of the game, getting a two-RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to win it for Brooklyn.

Brooklyn starter David Griffin had a rocky outing for Syracuse. The right-handed pitcher pitched five innings, giving up three earned runs, including a home run. He did strike out six. Santos gave up one run, while Tavarez and Hejka looked strong.

Florida State League (Low-A): Daytona Tortugas (8-8) 4 vs St. Lucie Mets (10-6) 5  Box Score

The St. Lucie Mets came away with an exciting 10-inning victory over the Daytona Tortugas. The game-winning hit and RBI came off the bat of 2021 Mets 19th round draft pick Drake Osborn to win it for the Mets. De Los Santos had three RBI’s and he and Consuegra each homered for St. Lucie in their victory over Daytona.

St. Lucie Mets starter Franklin Sanchez got roughed up on Tuesday, giving up three runs over the course of just 1.1 innings pitched, not making it out of the second inning. But the Mets’ bullpen comes up strong and clutch to save the game and help keep the Mets in it and ultimately win on a walk-off.
