Syracuse Mets 3 (37-40), Lehigh Valley IronPigs 2 (35-39) Box Score

Gregor Blanco put Syracuse on the board with a two-run home run, but the IronPigs came back. Guillorme hit a double in the 8th to put the Mets up.

Gilliam is having a tough time navigating Triple-A, which is a shame, since the team could really use him right now. Coleman is a third-generation pro baseball player.

Erie Seawolves 10, Binghamton Rumble Ponies 5 (38-33) Box Score

It’s nice to see Sanchez hitting, even without power. Carpio is 8 for 25 over the last ten games.

  • RHP Tommy Wilson 3.2 IP, 11 H, 8 ER, BB, 4 K 7.90 ERA
  • LHP Blake Taylor 3.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, ER, 4 K 2.45 ERA
  • RHP Erik Hanhold 2 IP, H, 4 K 0.00 ERA

Hanhold struggled in Triple-A, so they moved him down a level. Wilson was jettisoned up very quickly, so it seems logical that he may struggle. He unfortunately put the team out of reach for this game.

St. Lucie Mets 4 (39-35), Dunedin Blue Jays 2 Box Score

Tiberi has been fairly versatile for St. Lucie. Cortes is hitting .224/.357/.433 in June.

Dibrell is still making good work of the Florida State League, but he still has fewer strikeouts (62) than hits allowed (63). This was Avilan’s 2nd rehab appearance.

Lexington Legends 9, Brooklyn Cyclones 2 (27-45) Box Score

Newton is still struggling a bit to start out, which is unfortunate, because he is a fairly interesting athlete. Columbia tried to mount a late comeback, scoring two runs in the ninth, but nine runs in one inning was pretty insurmountable.

Most Columbia Pitchers are struggling, but Moreno seems to be one of the more interesting ones, tossing in the triple-digits.

Brooklyn Cyclones 7 (5-5), Aberdeen Ironbirds 6 Box Score

Brooklyn had some fireworks on the proving grounds, racking up 11 hits, and putting the game out of reach with seven runs, despite a late rally.

It took Noah, who had limited the Ironbirds to a run through his first four innings before allowing a second and third in the fifth inning. It took five relievers to keep Aberdeen from winning.

Kingsport Mets 4 (5-3) Burlington Royals 3 Box Score

Ota broke out a bit with two extra-base hits. Jaylen Palmer has struggled in his last couple of games and has watched his OPS fall to .761. The top signee in the 2016 signing period, Espino has looked very good with the bat thus far in Kingsport.

Loaiza has allowed nine hits in 8.2 innings, but has struck out 12 during that time. Brendan Hardy, a late round 2018 pick, struck out one in 1.1 scoreless innings, but walked three at the same time.

GCL Mets 11 (1-0), GCL Cardinals 8 Box Score

  • RF Adrian Hernandez 2-5, HR, SB, K

  • SS William Lugo 1-4, R, RBI, K
  • C Francisco Alvarez 2-4, 2 2B, BB, RBI, 2 R

These four made up the top of the first Gulf Coast League 2019 lineup and are all names to watch as young teenagers with upside. 2019 21st rounder and Designated Hitter Branden Fryman also had an excellent game with three hits, including a double, a walk, and three runs batted in. 39th Rounder Nick Conti collected two hits and his first pro homer.

Gulf Coast League had a tough start in terms of pitching.

DSL Mets1 6 (11-7), Minnesota 3 Box Score

Valdez has a very nice .837 OPS in 17 games this season. Dominguez hit his first homer of the season.

Ramirez pitched his first start of the season and did spectacularly.

DSL Cubs 2 6, DSL Mets2 2 (10-11) Box Score

Campos and Corona have been two bright spots for the DSL Mets 2 team. Mario Paiva has not lived up to his billing so far as another top signee in the 2018 signing period.

Rolfy Vargas had a tough loss, allowing four runs, three earned on five hits in 2.2 innings.
