Despite the rest of the minor league levels being underway, eyes were still closely on Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday. The reasoning for this is the New York Mets’ top pitching prospect, Brandon Sproat, made his second start of the season. Luckily, he did much better than he did in his opening start, leading Triple-A Syracuse to victory.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (3-3) 7, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (4-4) 4

Box Score

Jose Azocar made his first big mark with Syracuse, as he launched a three-run shot in the game’s second inning. Six of the Mets’ seven runs came in the second frame, as Rowdey Jordan and Luis De Los Santos also had RBIs.

Brandon Sproat dazzled for Syracuse going four innings while only allowing one run with two strikeouts, as he looks to continue his path towards Queens. He allowed two walks as command looks to still be an issue, but a much better outing from his last start.

Double-A

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies’ (Double-A) game on Saturday against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats was postponed due to weather. The teams will now have a doubleheader on Sunday. Game 1 of the doubleheader is slated to begin at 12:30 pm ET.

High-A

Brooklyn Cyclones (2-0) 15, Wilmington Blue Rocks (0-2) 1

Box Score

Jacob Reimer, the Mets’ fourth-round pick in the 2022 draft, reached base three times, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs. Reimer already has eight RBIs, which is more than he had last year in 14 games. The 21-year-old will look to build off these strong performances for his 2025 campaign.

Right-handed pitcher Brendan Griton made his Brooklyn debut and was solid, giving up one run across 2 2/3 innings of work. That run was his only mistake on his outing as the right-hander out of Texas Tech impressive with five strikeouts and only one walk allowed.

Low-A

St. Lucie Mets (1-1) 6, Jupiter Hammerheads (1-1) 5

Box Score

The Mets had a four-run bottom of the first, highlighted by a two-run double from Trace Willhoite and a two-run homer by Trey Snyder; the first of his career.

The Hammerheads jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a pair of errors and walks before Jesus Hernandez delivered a one-out, two-run single off Christofer Gomez. This was Jupiter’s final hit of the game. Frank Elissalt, Hunter Hodges, and Hoss Brewer combined for eight hitless innings and 13 strikeouts, contributing to a 16-strikeout night overall.
