For the third consecutive Sunday, there was a doubleheader played in the Mets organization, once again by the Rumble Ponies (Double-A). Across all four levels, the Mets’ affiliates went 0-5, truly a poor day for the organization as a whole.

Despite the poor team play, there were a few notable player performances. In Triple-A Syracuse, A.J. Ewing and Ryan Clifford each totaled two hits, with three extra-base hits between the two. Ewing is slashing .326/.392/.435 in Triple-A, and with the major league club’s struggles, a call to the big leagues may be in his future.

Down in Single-A St. Lucie, Shortstop Elian Peña had another stellar day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a walk. The 19-year-old is slashing .303/.413/.420 in 2026.

Triple-A

Rochester Red Wings 8, Syracuse Mets 5

Box Score

  • DH A.J. Ewing: 2-for-5, 2B, RBI, SB
  • CF Nick Morabito: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K
  • RF Ryan Clifford: 2-for-3, HR, 3B, 2 R, RBI, BB, K
  • SS Jackson Cluff: 2-for-4, HR, 2 R, RBI, SB, K

The Syracuse (Triple-A) offense had a solid day as a team, especially productive in the power category with three home runs, a triple, and a double. However, they fell short with RISP, going just 1-for-6, leaving five on base.

It was not a good performance from the Mets’ (Triple-A) pitching staff on Sunday, allowing 12 hits, eight earned runs, and seven walks. After a solid five innings from Curry, things fell apart from there, with the only saving grace being Mets’ 17th ranked prospect Ross.

Double-A

Game 1

Hartford Yard Goats 5, Binghamton Rumble Ponies 2

Box Score

The Rumble Ponies’ offense struggled in the first game of the doubleheader. As a unit, they totaled just four hits and two runs, going 1-for-9 with RISP, leaving six on base.

The right-hander Cota was not up to par in Sunday afternoon’s game for the Rumble Ponies (Double-A). He allowed five earned runs in his 4.2 innings of work, raising his season ERA to 9.64. However, the rest of the staff was spotless in the seven-inning contest, not allowing a baserunner over the last 2.1 IP.

Game 2

Hartford Yard Goats 5, Binghamton Rumble Ponies 0

Box Score

  • DH Eli Serrano III: 0-for-2, 2 BB, K
  • DH Jacob Reimer: 0-for-3, 2 K
  • C Chris Suero: 3 BB
  • RF Jose Ramos: 1-for-3, K

The Rumble Ponies’ (Double-A) offense was dreadful in the second game of the double header. As a team, they failed to score while only recording four hits, going 0-for-7 with RISP, leaving seven on base.

It was a similar performance from the first game of the double header for Binghamton’s (Double-A) pitching staff in game two. After a bad start from Gordon that saw his ERA go to 16.20, the rest of the staff locked things down, holding the Yard Goats to just one hit over the final 5.1 IP.

High-A

Bowling Green Hot Rods 5, Brooklyn Cyclones 4

Box Score

It was a fairly average afternoon for the Cyclones’ (High-A) offense, with Hernandez starring despite the loss with a home run and two RBI. As a team, they went just 1-for-3 with RISP, leaving two on base in limited opportunity. Voit, the Mets’ top pick in the 2025 MLB Draft is hitting .160/.192/.240 in May.

The Brooklyn (High-A) staff was up and down on Sunday, with Miller delivering a strong five-inning start, allowing two runs while striking out seven. However two runs by Stratton and Charles allowing the game winning run spoiled the outing.

Single-A

Lakeland Flying Tigers 8, St. Lucie Mets 3

Box Score

Despite the Mets (Single-A) totaling 10 hits and five walks in their contest on Sunday, they simply failed to come through when it counted on offense. Going 2-for-10 with RISP while leaving nine runners on base only produced three runs despite the traffic, something they will look to improve on moving forward.

The St. Lucie (Single-A) pitching staff was good through the first six innings on Sunday, allowing just two runs. However, things went south in the seventh when Mijares allowed five earned runs in a third of an inning, raising his ERA to 6.59.
