
Las Vegas 1 (16-14), Sacramento 0 Box Score
Rafael Montero bounced back and the Vegas bullpen combined to avenge the Mets against Chris Heston with a shutout. Montero threw 5.2 innings, while giving up four hits and three walks while striking out six. Relief Prospects Josh Smoker, Jeff Walters and Paul Sewald kept Sacramento scoreless over the next 2.1 innings.
Ty Kelly continues his hot streak with a 4 for 4 day and is hitting .427 on the year. Matt Reynolds continues to man Shortstop as Gavin Cecchini sits out with a sore back and went 2 for 4 with a double and the only RBI of the game. CF Brandon Nimmo went 1 for 4 and stole his third base of the year.
Reading 5, Binghamton 3 (14-13) Box Score
1B Dominic Smith had the chance to win the game with the bases loaded and two out in the top of the ninth and failed to do so. He went 0 for 5 for the day with a strikeout and has a .282/.323/.427 triple slash on the year. Outfielders Jared King and Kyle Johnson both recorded doubles.
Tyler Pill struck out a career high 12 in 7.1 innings, but also gave up five runs and 10 hits. He also helped his own cause, driving in two runners on a single. Pill seems like a guy that is a candidate to be converted to a position player as he has a career .417/.420/.563 line in 48 at bats. LHP David Roseboom faced the two remaining batters and retired them both.
St. Lucie 14 (17-13), Jupiter 6 Box Score
St. Lucie had 18 hits as eight out of nine hitters had multiple hits. C Tomas Nido and 3B Jhoan Urena both hit a home run. DH Wuilmer Becerra continued to hit with a 2 for 3 and two RBI including a sac fly, and was hit by a pitch, and scored once. SS Amed Rosario was 3 for 4 with a triple, and a walk, while driving in two and scoring three times. However, he committed his sixth error that led to a run, and was caught stealing in the first inning. He is now hitting .342/.386/.550 in 29 games and has walked 6 times in his last ten games. Seriously Mets, promote the guy.
RHP Chris Flexen didn’t fare as well as the lineup, giving up five runs, four earned, on eight hits and two walks while striking out three. He has given up four runs in three of his last four starts. RHP Kevin McGowan gave up an additional run in his inning pitched. LHP Alberto Baldonado and RHP Ben Griset shut down the Marlins affiliate for the remaining two innings.
Columbia 6 (17-14), Greenville 4 Box Score
Fireflies scored six on the Red Sox A-ball Affiliate, with five doubles hit by the team. SS Milton Ramos was 2 for 3 with two doubles and a walk and was caught stealing, and has improved his batting average to .222. 1B Dash Winningham scored two on a double in the third inning, and walked as well. He is hitting a strange .293/.371/.370 this year with 11 walks and 9 strikeouts. 3B David Thompson also collected a double and a strikeout. CF Kevin Kaczmarski was 1 for 3, and has gone 3 for 7 since returning from the Disabled List on Sunday.
RHP Chase Ingram had a start of fours, with five innings pitched but gave up four hits, four runs, and four walks, while striking out six. RHP Tyler Bashlor and RHP Alex Palsha kept the team scoreless for the next four innings while striking out six.
