curtis granderson

In a game where we expected fireworks in the rematch of the 2015 NLDS between the New York Mets and The Los Angeles Dodgers. Those fireworks never came, but Curtis Granderson started the game off with a bang off a former player of Met fan lore, Scott Kazmir. Granderson hit a solo shot on the very first pitch of the game, helping the Mets to a 4-2 victory Monday night.

The homer was Granderson’s 37th leadoff shot of his career. Curtis, who has been struggling at the plate, batting just .204 in his last 15 games could be showing some signs of getting back to a better form. He went 2-for-5 on the night, while also picking up a single to go with his homer.

In the 2016 campaign, Granderson comes in with a .215/.312/.438 slash. He has hit 6 homers on the year with 11 RBI. Curtis has also walked 14 times this year.

Granderson is the linchpin of this offense, and getting him going will only put the Mets in greater situational hitting opportunities. The offense has widely relied on homers this season for their runs, as they lead the majors with 49.
