Las Vegas (63-49) 9, Salt Lake 3

Brandon Nimmo fell to the 9th spot in the order for the first time, he responded by going 3-4 with a walk and his first AAA homerun. Here is video of the blast. Nimmo is now 7-11 with two walks, two stolen bases, and three runs scored in his last three games. Zach Lutz was 2-4 with a double and his first blast since returning to Las Vegas.

Wilfredo Tovar collected four hits, two RBI, two runs scored, and his 13th double of the year. Matt Reynolds went 3-6 with a run scored and RBI, he is 11-26 with four RBI since returning to the 51’s from his elbow injury. Dilson Herrera was 1-6 with a run scored.

Seth Lugo made his AAA debut getting the win with 5 innings of two-run ball (three unearned) on five hits and two walks while striking out three. Cody Satterwhite pitched two hit-less innings of relief with five strikeouts, he has 19 K’s over his last 12.1 innings of relief. Box Score

Binghamton (61-48) 9 Bowie 2

Robert Gsellman has now allowed only two earned runs in his last 31.1 innings pitched after going 5 innings last night surrendering two unearned runs. He allowed two hits and walked no one while striking out three on his way to his 6th AA victory. Robert lowered his ERA to 2.99, WHIP to 1.18, and threw only 67 pitches (44 strikes) as the Mets monitor his workload.

Akeel Morris pitched 1.1 scoreless innings with two strikeouts and has now given up only one run over his last 12.1 AA innings. Josh Smoker pitched a clean inning with a strikeout and stranded two runners. Paul Sewald pitched a scoreless 9th with one strikeout lowering his ERA to 1.43 and is holding opponents to a .182 batting average.

Xorge Carrillo was 3-4 with a double, run scored, and knocked in three runs. Here is video of the double. Josh Rodriguez went 2-4 with run scored, two doubles, 11th stolen base, and his 67th RBI of the year. L.J. Mazzilli was 1-3 with a stolen base, two walks and three runs scored. St. Lucie (56-52) 7, Fort Myers 4

The Mets scored four runs in the 9th inning to take a 7-4 with Dominic Smith singling in the game-winning run with two outs. Smith was 2-5 with two RBI on the day giving 66 on the year which trails Sebastian Elizalde by two for the league lead. Smith is now 3rd in OPS (.769), 4th in AVG (.307), and 5th in SLG (.417). Paul Paez got the win in relief pitching 2.2 scoreless innings.

Yeixon Ruiz was 2-5 and now has 18 hits and 10 runs scored over his last ten games in which he is hitting .419. Jeff McNeil raised his league leading average to .314 going 2-4 with a walk, RBI, and two runs scored. Matt Oberste was 1-3 with two walks, two runs scored, two RBI, and his 4th triple. Over his last ten games he has 13 hits, 11 RBI, 9 runs, and 7 walks.

Miller Diaz struggled going 5.1 innings giving up four runs on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Kyle Regnault allowed a hit and walk in the 9th but secured his 3rd save of the season. Box score

Savannah (60-48) 4, Rome 3 F/10

Rehabbing Luis Mateo and Cameron Griffin blew a two-run lead in the 9th inning but Jean Rodriguez bailed them out with a game-winning single in the top of the 10th. Rodriguez was 2-5 with his 10th double, 13th steal, and three RBI. Here is video of his double. Luis Guillorme went 3-5 with his 8th double and scored three runs including the game-winner.

Wuilmer Becerra was 2-5 with a run scored, his 23rd double, and extended his hitting streak to 9 games. Michael Katz went 2-4 with two doubles and his 28th RBI.

Ricky Knapp made the start pitching 7 good innings giving up one run on eight hits, walk, and struck out four. Box Score

Lowell 12, Brooklyn (23-21) 0

Brooklyn lost out in the battle of the Almonte’s with the Cyclones starting Gaby and the Spinners going with Jose. Gaby allowed ten runs and Jose pitched 4 scoreless innings.

Cyclones infielders Zach Mathieu and Pedro Perez each pitched a scoreless inning in relief with Mathieu even striking out two batters. P.J. Conlon continued the dominance to start his career pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts extending his scoreless streak to 10 innings. In that span he has struck out 11 while allowing only three hits and one walk.

Enmanuel Zabala, Vinny Siena, Michael Bernal, and Jeffrey Diehl each had one hit accounting for the entire Brooklyn offense. David Thompson was 0-1 with HBP before Tom Gamboa started pulling starters to get his bench guys some at bats. Box Score

Bristol 4, Kingsport (19-22) 3 Game One

Ivan Wilson went 2-3 with a run scored, stolen base, and his 8th RBI of the year for Kingsport. Patrick Mazeika was 1-3 with his 32nd RBI which is tied for first in the Appalachian League. Luis Ortega was 0-1, with a walk, HBP, run scored, and his 5th stolen base of the year, he has reached base safely in 19 games. Box Score

Kingsport (20-22) 9, Bristol 7 Game Two F/8

The Mets scored seven runs in the 7th inning to force extra innings and then scored two in the top of the 8th to win the dramatic comeback. Arnaldo Berrios hit a two-run triple in the 8th inning to win the game, he was 2-4 with three RBI. Dillon Becker, 16th round, picked up his first pro win allowing one run over 2.1 innings while striking out four.

Mazeika extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a 2-4 night with two runs scored, he is now slashing .336/.436/.541 in his pro career. Ortega went 2-3 with a run scored and has now reached base safely in 20 straight games. Kevin Kaczmarski was 2-4, he has hit safely in 8 of 10 games and is hitting .326 with six stolen bases in that span. Milton Ramos was 1-4 with a RBI. Box score

GCL Mets (21-17) 4, GCL Nationals 2

Big story of the day in the Mets minor leagues comes from the Gulf Coast League where Marcos Molina made his return to the mound for the first time since May 13th. He had been shutdown with elbow soreness and believed to be headed towards getting TJS. He started the game and pitched three perfect innings with three strikeouts in his return.

The Mets trailed 2-0 heading to the top of the 8th inning before a Will Barring two-run homer tied it and Desmond Lindsay delivered a game-winning RBI double with two outs. Lindsay was 2-3 with a walk, RBI, and his 2nd pro double while raising his average to .389.

Yeffry De Aza went 1-4 with a run scored stretching his hitting streak to twelve games. Catcher Anthony Dimino was 1-4 with a run scored, the 2015 28th round pick has now reached base in 13 straight games. Box Score
