John Gant started and was rusty after getting a few extra days off in between starts going 5 innings allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and four walks while striking out four as well. Gant now has a 4.22 ERA on the season and fell to 1-2. Matt Koch pitched two scoreless innings of relief and has now thrown four scoreless with three strike outs since transitioning to the bullpen. Jake Kuebler bounced back from a rough outing on Sunday (0.2 IP 3 Runs) to pitch two scoreless innings giving up only two base runners with two strike outs. Brandon Nimmo had a great game collecting three hits, two of them doubles to give him 6 on the season. Nimmo is now hitting .304/.375/.457 on the season and is hitting .372 over the last 10 games with a 6/3 K/BB ratio. T.J. Rivera went 2-4 boosting his line up to .396/.421/.500 on the season and has picked up right where he left off before his injury. Jayce Boyd made his return to the line up after missing a week with back stiffness and went 1-3 with a walk, RBI, throwing out a runner at home too. Robert Gsellman had a no-hitter going into the 8th with one out when Ronald Castillo hit a chopper up the middle that neither Amed Rosario or Jeff McNeil could get to. Gsellman got the next hitter to hit into an inning-ending double play to finish his spectacular 8 innings of work. Over his 8 innings of work Gsellman gave up the one hit, three hits while striking out six. He also induced 10 ground ball outs and needed only 94 pitches to finish his outing. Gsellman had a great changeup working and wasn’t afraid to throw it early in the account to get ahead of hitters. Akeel Morris pitched the 9th and finished the 1 hitter striking out the strike only giving up a walk. Morris has now given up just four hits over 13.1 innings while striking out 22 hitters over that time. Michael Conforto went 1-4 knocking in a run giving him 21 RBI’s in only 25 games to start the year. Victor Cruzado had three hits and scored two runs improving his line to .257/.350/.314 with a 14/10 K/BB ratio. Champ Stuart busted out of his 8 game slump that saw his average drop from .300 to .228 before his two hit and one walk night last night. Over those 8 games Stuart struck out 17 times and stole only one base. Dominic Smith went 0-3 with a walk and a run scored but might a great diving catch turning it into a double play ending the top of the 7th and keeping the no-hitter intact. Rosario had his 7-game hit streak come to an end going 0-3 with a walk while Jhoan Urena had a RBI single and is hitting a ridiculous .414/.433/.621 with runners in scoring position. Box Score. Scarlyn Reyes started for the Sand Gnats picking over his 1st win of the season going 5.2 innings allowing three runs on ten base runners while striking out four. The bullpen combination of Jimmy Duff, Josh Smoker, and David Roseboom pitched three perfect innings in relief to close out the 6-3 victory. It was Roseboom’s first save and has now giving up just one run over 13.2 innings striking out 17 in that time. Jean Rodriguez paced the offense with his first HR, his 3rd triple and knocked in three while playing SS to give Luis Guillorme a day off. Wuilmer Becerra 1-3 with his 7th double knocking in his 13th run of the year. Becerra now had a 6-game hit streak and has a season line of .259/.310/.481. Box Score.
