Sacramento 14, Las Vegas (45-33)  7

Vic Black had a typical Vic Black outing walking three guys to load the bases but getting a strike out to end the inning without any damage. Jenrry Mejia also made an appearance on his way back pitching a scoreless 9th inning with two strikeouts.

Starter Tyler Pill did not fare as well lasting only 3 innings giving up eight runs (seven earned) on 13 hits and two walks as he picked up his 5th loss of the year. Chase Huchingson pitched a scoreless inning and has yet to allow a run since being promoted to Las Vegas spanning nine innings. Jack Leathersich was not sharp giving up six runs on four walks and five hits in just two innings of work.

Matt Reynolds was out of the lineup for the 4th straight game but did walk in a pinch hit appearance. T.J. Rivera was 3-4 with his 11th double and 15th run batted in since joining Las Vegas. Jayce Boyd made his first appearance since June 20th going 1-2 with a walk and RBI off the bench. Alex Castellanos was 2-4 with a walk and a run scored, he hitting .289/.364/.566 on the year. Akron 1, Binghamton (38-37) 0

Michael Fulmer started his night off with a bang striking out the side in the first all on 94+ MPH fastballs. Michael didn’t slow down the rest of the night going 7 strong innings giving up just an unearned run on three hits and zero walks while striking out a career high 9 batters. Over his last 24.1 innings he has given up only one earned run while striking out 26 batters and putting his name towards the top of Mets pitching prospects.

The Binghamton offense has only four baserunners all night with Michael Conforto and Xorge Carrillo collecting the two hits. Conforto is now 8-39 with 11 strikeouts over his last ten games. Gavin Cecchini was 0-4 with his 17th error of the season, he is hitting .158 but does still have a 5/5 BB/SO. Brandon Nimmo was 0-3 and is hitless in his last four games. Box Score

St. Lucie (38-37) 2,  Tampa 0 F/12

John Gant was absolutely dominant pitching 8 scoreless innings giving up just three hits and a walk while striking out ten hitters. Gant threw 101 pitches with a remarkable 74 of them going for strikes. Gant has been on fire since being sent down to St. Lucie, he has 48 strikeouts in 40.1 innings while allowing only 27 hits over that span.

The Mets bullpen continued the flawless pitching with Robert Coles, Kyle Regnault, and Josh Smoker combining to throw four hitless innings issuing two walks while striking out six. Renault pitched two perfect picking up his 2nd win and lowering his ERA to 2.18. Smoker picked up his 5th save while lowering his ERA to 1.86 on the year, he has allowed just 17 baserunners in 19.1 innings for the Mets.

Dominic Smith was just 1-5 but that hit started the Mets two-run rally in the top of the 12th inning, he has 16 hits over his last ten games. Stefan Sabol and Phillip Evans were the only Mets to have multiple hit on the night. Jeff McNeil was 1-5 while All-Star catcher Colton Plaia was 1-4 with a walk. Box Score

Lexington 8, Savannah (39-34) 5 Finish of yesterdays suspended game

Scarlyn Reyes struggled a week after being named SAL pitcher of the week, he lasted just 4 innings giving up five runs on five hits (2 HR’s) and two walks while striking out six. Reyes entered the game with only two homeruns allowed all season in 65 innings, he has held the league to a .237 average. Paul Paez pitched 3 innings in relief giving up a run on four hits and picking up his 2nd loss of the season. Paez has given up four runs over his last two appearance (4 innings) after giving up only two in 18.1 innings.

Wuilmer Becerra was 1-2 with two walks and two runs while not striking out for the first time in six games. John Mora was 2-4 with 11th double and two RBI with 33 now on the season. Catcher Adrian Abreu is was 2-4 with a run scored while knocking in a run. Box Score

Savannah (40-34) 3, Lexington 1 F/7 Game two

Corey Oswalt got the start pitching a gem going 6 scoreless innings giving up six hits and two walks while striking out seven hitters. Oswalt picked up his 5th win of the season while lowering his ERA to 3.95 for the year. James Duff allowed a run in the 7th inning on two hits but still picked up his 7th save of the season.

The Sand Gnats offense only had five hits in the game but four of them came in the 2nd inning when they scored all of their three runs. Tomas Nido, Adrian Abreu, and Joe Tuschak all had doubles with Nido’s and Tuschak’s coming in the 2nd inning and knocking in runs. John Mora was 1-2 with his 34th RBI, he is hitting .303/.380/.439 with runners in scoring position. Luis Guillorme was 1-2 with a walk, he is now hitting .303/.382/.323 on the year. Wuilmer Becerra and Eudor Garcia combined to go 0-6 in the 2nd game with Garcia scoring after reaching on an error. Box Score

Brooklyn (7-3) 11, Auburn 4

Right fielder Michael Bernal came up in the 7th inning a single shy of the cycle and was robbed by the center fielder on a line drive that that Auburn turned into a double play. Bernal was taking out of the game in the bottom of the 7th as the Cyclones got some bench players some playing time. Bernal was 3-4 with two RBI, three runs scored, and blasted his 3rd homerun of the season while stealing his first base of the year, The 23-year old is hitting .344/.421/.844 in the early going and should see Savannah soon after starting in Brooklyn for 2nd straight year.

Mets 4th round pick David Thompson was 1-4 with a two-run triple, his first pro extra base hit. He has a hit and RBI in each of his first pro starts. Mets 2015 14th round pick Vincent Siena was 2-5 with two runs scored and is hitting .368 for the year. First basemen Zach Mathieu is 2-3 with a run scored while knocking in three runs. Jeffrey Diehl was 1-2 with a walk, his 4th double, scored two runs and is now hitting .435/.480/.826 for the year.

Corey Taylor the Mets 7th round pick pitched a perfect 9th inning with one strikeout and has yet to be scored upon ins three pro innings. Box Score

Kingsport (4-3) 6, Danville 5

Kingsport was losing 5-0 heading to the top of the 6th before they rallied for three in each of the 6th and 8th innings with Milton Ramos driving in the game-winning run. Ramos finished 3-4 with a double and two RBI while stealing his 2nd base, he is hitting .440 in the early going. First basemen Dash Winningham was 2-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI giving him 9 in just 7 games.

Patrick Mazeika the Mets 8th round pick was 2-4 with a double, two RBI, and two runs scored. Kevin Kaczmarski the 9th round pick was 1-3 with a walk. Luis Carpio was 2-4 and scored two runs while batting 2nd in the lineup and playing shortstop.

GCL Mets (2-4) 8 GCL Nationals 1

The GCL Mets collected 15 hits on the night including going 5-10 with runners in scoring position and scoring in 6 of 9 innings. Catcher Ali Sanchez was 3-5 with two RBI while hitting out of the three hole. Cecilio Aybar was with 3-4 with a RBI and two runs scored, he is now 5-8 on the season. Ricardo Cespedes was 2-5 with a RBI and run scored while Jose Miguel Medina was 2-3 with a walk.

Mets 2014 14th round pick 19-year old lefty Joel Huertas started for the Mets going 6 scoreless giving up only three runners while striking out batters. Blake Taylor made his season debut pitching the 7th inning allowing an unearned run on one hit. Mets 11th round pick this year Jake Simon made his pro debut working around a hit and a walk to pitch a scoreless 8th with two strikeouts.
