Fresno 9, Las Vegas (55-41) 2

The 51’s offense could muster only three hits on the night with the biggest coming from Brandon Allen who hit a two-run homerun in the 2nd inning. The homerun was Allen’s 10th of the season to go along with 48 RBI and he is now hitting .290/.369/.483 on the year but his OPS is .744 on the road. Cory Vaughn was 1-4 ith his 10th double while Travis Taijeron was collected the the 51’s last hit with a single. Zach Lutz started at 1B and batted third going 0-2 with two walks and a run scored. Dilson Herrrera, T.J. Rivera, and Jayce Boyd combined to go 0-11 with Rivera reaching on a walk.

Luis Cessa was roughed up in his third start for Las Vegas lasting only 3 innings giving up seven runs on eight hits and two walks while recording only one strikeout. He took his 2nd loss for the 51’s and has now given up 14 runs in just 13.1 innings in AAA. Tyler Pill fresh off the diasabled list pitched three scoreless innings in relief with three strikeouts. Vic Black pitched 8th inning giving up one run on two singles and striking out one. Black threw 21 pitches with 14 of them going for strikes. Box Score

Binghamton (51-43) 3, New Britain 2

The B’Mets scored all three of their runs in the 4th inning thanks to back-to-back-to-back RBI doubles by Michael Conforto, Brock Peterson, and Brandon Nimmo. Seth Lugo made the three runs hold up pitching 7 innings of one-run ball to lead Binghamton to their 4th straight victory.

Conforto was 1-3 with a walk, 12th double, 25th RBI, and scored a run while lifting his AA average to .325. The night could have been better for Conforto who was robbed by a jumping catch at the center field wall in his 3rd at bat and had a sure double stolen by another nice lunging play by the center fielder in his last at bat.

L.J. Mazzilli was the only Mets with multiple hits going 2-4 with his 11th double and scored a run. He extended his hitting streak to to 7 games and has 12 hits and five RBI over that span. Gavin Cecchini had a rare off night going 0-4 with a strikeout but made a couple of nice plays in the field.

Lugo won his third straight decision giving up one run on four hits and a walk while tying a season high with eight strikeouts. He lowered his season ERA to 3.45, WHIP to 1.18, and it holding the opponents to a .246 average. Jon Velasquez pitched a perfect 9th inning striking out the last two hitters to pick up his 14th save for Binghamton. Box Score

Charlotte 3, St. Lucie (48-47) 0

The Mets were held to just four hits on the night with Dominic Smith going 1-4 and seeing his average dip to .301. Victor Cruzado and Phillip Evans each had a double while Stefan Sabol had a single. Jeff McNeil was 0-4 but still leads the FSL lead with his .317 average. Amed Rosario missed his 2nd consecutive game.

Casey Meisner was solid but picked up his first loss for St. Lucie (3rd overall) going 5 innings allowing two runs on five hits (2-R HR) with zero walks and eight strikeouts. Since being promoted Meisner is 3-1 with 2.40 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 26 innings while allowing 25 hits in 5 starts for St. Lucie. David Roseboom worked around two hits to throw a scoreless 8th inning. Box Score

Savannah (48-45) 4, Charleston 1 Game One

The Sand Gnats completed the suspended game from the previous day and won in comeback fashion after scoring four runs in the 7th inning erasing a 1-0 deficit. Wuilmer Becerra was 2-4 with his 38th RBI of the season while Eudor Garcia was 2-4 with his 4th stolen base. Luis Guillorme, Tyler Moore, and Patrick Biondi each had one hit and a RBI.

Edioglis Villasmil went four innings out of the pen to pick up his first win for Savannah allowing only one run. Christian Montgomery made his Sand Gnats debut pitching a scoreless 8th inning issuing one walk while striking out two, he has now struck out 20 batters in 10.2 innings this year. Jimmy Duff pitched a perfect 9th inning with one strikeout to pick up his 10th save of the season. Box Score

Savannah (49-45) 2, Charleston 1 Game Two F/7

John Mora led the offense going 2-2 with a walk, run scored, and his 7th stolen base of the season, the outfielder is now hitting .262/.355/.397 with a league leading ten triples. Guillorme was 1-2 with his 35th RBI, walk, and is now hitting .298 for the year. Becerra was 1-3 with his 10th stolen base of the season, over his last ten games he is batting .394 and his hitting .298/.346/.467 for the year. Tomas Nido and Garcia each had one hit.

Martires Arias was good in his return to the Sand Gnats after pitch 7 great innings in only start with St. Lucie last week. Arias pitched 5 innings allowing only an unearned run on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters. He picked up his 4th win for Savannah and lowered his ERA to 2.67 overall. Cameron Griffin pitched a scoreless 9th to collect his 4th save while lowering his ERA to 2.50 and the average against him to .159 on the year. Box Score

Brooklyn (18-11) 5, Vermont 4 Walk-Off Win 

The Cyclones came into the bottom of the 8th trailing 4-1 before the Brandon Brosher launched a three-run homerun to tie the game. In the bottom of the 9th inning Jeff Diehl came up with the bases loaded and one out, he delivered with a walk-off sacrifice fly to right field to score Tucker Tharp.

Vinny Siena was 3-5 with his 7th RBI, he is now hitting .352/.417/.380 in 28 games to start his pro career. Michael Bernal was 0-2 with three walks and scored a run. Broshers’ homerun was his only hit of the day, he now has 13 RBI to go along with his .214 average. David Thompson got the day game off.

Andrew Church pitched 5 great innings before faltering in the 6th leaving after allowing the first two hitters to reach base. Craig Missigman came in to relieve Church allowing both inherited runners to score and giving up a run of his own. Church final line: 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 4 K’s, raising his season to 1.69 in 16 innings. Corey Taylor picked up his first pro win pitching a scoreless 9th with one strikeout, he has yet to allow a run in 9 innings. Box Score

GCL Mets 3, GCL Nationals 2

Rafael Montero pitched three scoreless innings giving three singles while striking out four. On the 14th he pitch in his first rehab appearance going one scoreless with a strikeout.

Ali Sanchez was 2-4 with his 3rd double, walk, RBI, and two runs scored while batting third and catching. He also threw out his 12th would be base stealer compared to just 6 that have been successful. Jose Miguel Medina was 1-2 with walk, RBI, and his 4th double of the season. Box Score
