The Mets made some announcements today regarding their minor league teams.

The New York Mets today announced the 2009 coaching staff for the Kingsport Mets, the team’s Appalachian League affiliate. Former Mets catcher Mike DiFelice will manage and be joined on the bench by hitting coach Ryan Ellis, pitching coach Jonathan Hurst and bench coach Juan Lopez.

They also announced the new coaching staff for the rookie league Gulf Coast Mets. Former Met Julio Franco will serve as manager of the GC Mets and will be joined on the bench by pitching coach Frank Fultz, hitting coach Tom McCraw as well as additional instructor Luis Rojas.

Finally, infielder Junior Spivey signed a minor-league contract with the Mets and began working out on the minor-league side. Spivey, 34, had been released from Red Sox camp. He appeared in the majors from 2001-05, with Arizona, Milwaukee and Washington.
