Mets Minor League Batting Leaders

Mets prospects have put up some tremendous offensive numbers so far this season with a few standouts having the best starts of their minor league careers.

Allan Dykstra, has been nothing short of amazing. He just continues to hit and produce and if Lucas Duda happens to falter at all, the Mets have to pull the trigger and give Dykstra his opportunity to shine on the big club. Only an injury kept him from showcasing his skills at big league camp this Spring . But he is proving that his 2013 Eastern League MVP award, was not a fluke, and that is evident by how he is tearing through Triple A pitchers this season. And it doesn’t look like he is going to cool off any time soon. Dykstra leads the organization with a .417 batting average, .548 OBP and .792 Slug. He also is in the top five in home runs and RBI’s.

T.J. Rivera, the reigning Florida State League hits champion, is at it again, putting the ball in play and producing key hits to lead a potent St. Lucie offense. Rivera, who leads the organization with 21 RBI’s and is second in hits with 29, is also in the top five in batting average, home runs and slugging. It’s obvious that he should have started in Double A this season as we had projected, but if he continues to hit like this, the Mets will need to do the right thing and reward him with a promotion.

Eric Campbell continues to prove that he may be ready to make the jump to the big club a lot sooner than most have thought. Soup, as he is commonly known, leads the organization in hits with 30, is third in home runs with three, second in RBI’s with 20, fourth with a .449 OBP and fifth with a .560 Slug. He, along with Dykstra and a surging Zach Lutz, have vaulted Las Vegas to first place with a sizzling 17-5 record in the Pacific Coast League.

Matt Clark, who the Mets signed in the off season, has been the most consistent hitter aside of the surging Matt Reynolds, for Double-A Binghamton this season. He leads the organization with five home runs, and is in the top five in batting average, OBP and Slug. He currently has hit safely in nine out of the last 10 games, which included his organization leading fifth home run on Thursday night.
