
Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that Eduardo Perez and Mike Bell both interviewed for the Mets managerial vacancy on Thursday.
A major league executive compared the traits of Bell to that of Astros manager A.J. Hinch as told by Mike Puma of the New York Post.
Puma also notes free agent manager Buck Showalter‘s candidacy for the Mets position has stalled over concerns with his previous interactions for front office members. Showalter was expected to interview for the Phillies managerial opening on Monday.
MLB Trade Rumors reported that former big leaguer Sam Fuld declined managerial interviews from the Cubs, Pirates, and Mets. Fuld is currently the Phillies’ major league player information coordinator.
Mets quality control coach Luis Rojas has already interviewed for the Mets manager job according to Tim Healey of Newsday. Rojas joins Perez, Bell, and Carlos Beltran has the known interviewees to this point, none with major league managerial experience.
Former Yankee manager Joe Girardi and current Twins’ bench coach Derek Shelton are going to interview for the Mets open position as well.
