Game Summary
Another tough loss to the Pirates. Another game where the pitching gave up the lead and the offense couldn’t get it back. The Mets gave up a 1-0 lead and lose 3-1.
Pitching
Johan Santana started the game off well. No surprise. Johan had a no-hitter through three innings, giving up his first hit after F-Martinez made a great diving attempt but failed to catch the ball. Santana started to look human as he gave up three runs in the sixth inning and giving up the lead.
Santana went 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 7 hits and a homerun, walking one, striking out 3 on 85 pitches. His ERA is now at 2.00. Santana gets his third loss of the season.
Sean Green came into the game for the seventh inning and got three outs to end the inning. Remember when everyone was worried about him? Ahh the memories.
Ken Takahashi came in and got the first two outs in the 8th inning. Brian Stokes came in to get the final out of the inning.
Batting
Mets were not able to get a run until the fifth, even though they had several innings with runners in scoring position and couldn’t get the run in. Mets offense again dies after initially scoring as they couldn’t get another run.
Jeremy Reed went 3-3, and Luis Castillo had the only RBI.
