According to Andy Martino of SNY, the mystery candidate that New York Mets team president Sandy Alderson met with on Saturday was former Miami Marlins president of baseball operations, Michael Hill.

Hill, 49, spent a total of 18 seasons in South Florida wearing an assortment of organizational hats during that span, culminating with the Harvard University alum being dubbed as the Marlins top baseball operations executive in September 2013.

At Mets owner and CEO Steve Cohen’s introductory news conference on Tuesday, Alderson confirmed the meeting while not revealing the potential hire.

“Two things happened on Saturday,” Alderson said. “We had a new President-elect and I interviewed my first candidate for president of baseball operations […] That was one interview. There will be others.”

The longtime MLB front office fixture also confirmed the team would be moving expeditiously toward filling out their front office, noting, “We understand it’s important to get people in place,” ahead of the offseason truly heating up.

We’ll keep you posted with new information as it becomes available.
