The Athletic is reporting that Orioles Assistant GM/VP Sig Mejdal is on the Mets radar for general manager.

Mejdal has been in baseball since 2005. He started as an analyst with the St. Louis Cardinals where he would spend six years in the role. Prior to his baseball career, he was a mathematical modeler for NASA.

Majdal then moved to the Houston Astros organizations where he was the director of decisions sciences for six years. When Mike Elias was hired as GM of the Orioles in 2018, he brought Mejdal with him where he’s been in his present role since.

The Orioles farm system has ranked number one or two across multiple scouting services. In August, MLB Pipeline had the Orioles with the number one farm system ranking. Baseball America had the Orioles at number two in their mid-season rankings, the highest Baltimore has ranked in the publication’s 39 years of ranking farm systems.
