Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press writes that in addition to Joe Jimenez, the Mets have also checked in on the possibility of acquiring Shane Greene in a trade with the Detroit Tigers.

Greene, 30, has recorded 22 saves this season while having a 1.09 ERA, 0.879 WHIP, and 3.72 FIP He also has 34 strikeouts (9.3 SO/9) in 33 innings. This has been by far his best season and will mark the first time he’ll be on the All-Star team.

Since the season he first became a reliever (2016), Greene has a 3.97 ERA, 1.248 WHIP, and 3.85 FIP to go along with 231 strikeouts (9.3 SO/9) and 65 saves.

Jimenez, 24, has a 4.96 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 4.83 FIP in 32 2/3 innings in 2019. He does have 49 strikeouts (13.5 SO/9) in that span, though he has also allowed a whopping seven home runs (1.9 HR/9).

Both relievers will likely command a significant package in a trade as Greene is under control for next season, which will be his last year of arbitration and Jimenez won’t be eligible for arbitration until after the 2020 season while he is controllable through the 2023 season.
