In the most recent Bovada betting odds, the Mets were placed at 12/1 for their chances at winning the NL Pennant.

That is very high praise for a team that just last year went 70-92. The number only places the Mets behind the San Francisco Giants (10/1), St. Louis Cardinals (9/1), Chicago Cubs (15/4), Washington Nationals (7/2), and Los Angeles Dodgers (9/4).

The Arizona Diamondbacks were also tied with the Mets while other notable teams such as the Milwaukie Brewers (16/1) and Colorado Rockies (18/1) finished just shy of the Mets.

Looking at this from a playoff picture standpoint, though, the Las Vegas betting site places the Mets just outside the playoffs, but certainly within striking distance of at least a Wild Card spot.

This calculation takes into account the Mets recent signing of Jason Vargas as well as their other additions made this offseason that are highlighted by Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier.

Nonetheless, there is a strong expectation of the team in Mickey Callaway‘s first year with the club.
