The Mets announced they have extended qualifying offers to Michael Conforto and Noah Syndergaard. The one-year offer is worth $18.4 million.

The deadline to make a qualifying offer is Sunday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. EST. Players have until Nov. 17 to decide if they will accept.

Both Conforto and Syndergaard debuted with the Mets in 2015.

Conforto has accumulated 15.7 WAR in seven seasons with the Mets. He’s batted .255/.356/.468 while being the starter in right field since the 2016 season. The industry expectation is Conforto with Scott Boras as his agent will reject the qualifying offer. Still just 28, the one-time All-Star could cash in with a weak outfield free-agent market.

Conforto may take the deal after a down 2021 season.

Syndergaard has missed the last two seasons with injury. Syndergaard made 24 and 30 starts his first two seasons. He only threw 30 1/3 innings in 2017. Then made 25 and 32 starts in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Syndergaard closed 2021 with two relief appearances and two innings thrown in the majors.

The 28-year-old right-hander expected he’d come back to the Mets at the end of the season.

“I’m fairly confident that we’ll reach an agreement, and I’ll be pitching here next year,” Syndergaard said. “I’d love nothing more than that. New York has a special place in my heart and always will be.”

He’s also willing to take the qualifying offer.

“It’s something I’d be extremely grateful for and we’ll cross that bridge when we get there. It’s definitely something I’m hoping for,” Syndergaard said.

The QO makes the most sense for Syndergaard as he’ll attempt to rebuild his value in 2022 and work out a long-term deal with the Mets or somewhere else. It’s identical to Marcus Stroman accepting the Mets QO for 2021 and looking for a larger deal in free agency this offseason.

Mets free agent Javier Baez would have been eligible for a QO but was traded midseason making him ineligible. Stroman cannot receive one because he previously accepted one.

Last season, six players received a QO. Two (Stroman and Kevin Gausman) accepted.
