On Friday evening, the Mets took to twitter to announce the establishment of a financial assistance program worth $1.2 million.

The grants are being released through the Mets COVID-19 Disaster Assistance Fund. An account created today in order to the money to the organizations ballpark employees.

According to the statement released by the team, the majority of the funds will go to employees within the organization, with the grants focusing on necessities that are considered essential, things like food, housing, medial care, and other needs.

The remaining grant money will be given out to employees of some of Citi Field’s partners, Aramark, Alliance, and Impark.

Employees can apply for the grant through a website starting next Tuesday, April 7.

Classy move by the organization, as many different teams throughout the professional sports world have been laying off and not even giving their employees a dime.
