Dillon Gee bounced back from a forgettable start against the Giants and pitched a gem today as the Mets beat the Pirates by a score of 4-2 at PNC Park. With the win, the Mets cap off the first half on a high note and avoided being swept.

John Buck hit a two-run single in the first as the Mets went on to take the early lead as Gee took care of the rest.

The righthander allowed just one unearned run in 6 2/3 innings and improved his record to 7-7 on the season. Gee allowed just six baserunners and struck out two and is now 3-0 lifetime against the Pirates with a 1.38 ERA in five career starts.

Buck, Eric Young Jr. and Marlon Byrd each had three hits for New York, and Josh Sating who started in place of Ike Davis went 1-for-3 with a walk. Daniel Murphy drove in a run with a triple in the seventh inning.

Bobby Parnell earned his 17th save in 20 opportunities with a scoreless ninth despite giving up a pair of singles.

The Mets finished their successful road trip with a 6-3 record and two of them, Matt Harvey and David Wright, will head back to New York where the Mets will host the All-Star Game on Tuesday night at Citi Field while the rest of the team spends some time off to be with their families.
