With the Mets now three games behind a Wild Card spot, ESPN announced that the Mets will play their September 15 game against the Dodgers on Sunday Night Baseball. The game is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Citi Field.

The 74-40 Dodgers own the best record in the MLB. Led by the dangerous bat of Cody Bellinger (1.098 OPS), and an excellent rotation headlined by Hyun-Jin Ryu (1.53 ERA) and Clayton Kershaw (2.85 ERA), they own a commanding 17 game lead in the NL West.

Back in May, the Mets lost three out of four to the Dodgers in gut wrenching fashion. The Mets’ bullpen blew a three-run lead in the 9th inning on May 29 in Los Angeles, and they were shutout 2-0 the next day by Ryu.

But the Mets are playing much better baseball since then. They are 9-1 over their past ten games and 15-6 since the All-Star Break.

The Dodgers will certainly be a tough challenge for the resurgent Mets. If the Mets stay hot, the now primetime match will likely have major playoff implications.
