According to MMO’s own Jacob Resnick, the New York Mets have designated right-hander Kevin McGowan in order to make room on the 40-man roster for newly signed outfielder Jay Bruce.

McGowan, 26, appeared in eight games for the Mets in 2017, registering a 5.19 ERA and 6.39 FIP in 8.2 innings pitched.

At Triple-A Las Vegas this past season, he appeared in 47 games and logged a 4.15 ERA across 65.0 innings pitched.

The Mets will now have 10 days to put McGowan on waivers, trade him, release him or outright him to the minor leagues.
