According to Mark Bowman of MLB.com, the Mets continue to evaluate the Braves top prospects as Atlanta looks to add pitching.

Bowman notes that closer Edwin Diaz appears to be more likely than right-handed starter Noah Syndergaard and right-handed starter Zack Wheeler is also in play.

It was previously reported that the Mets sent assistant GMs’ Omar Minaya and Allard Baird to watch the Braves top affiliates last week.

The asking price for Diaz remains high though Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Rays, Red Sox, Braves and Padres have remain interested.

Diaz, 25, has struggled this season to the tune of a 4.95 ERA and 1.45 WHIP, but he has 61 strikeouts in 40 innings. The right-hander was acquired during the offseason from the Mariners and is under contract through the 2022 season.

Alex Spier of the Boston Globe notes that Diaz is unlikely for the Red Sox as they continue to look for bullpen help.
