The Mets (35-50) dropped the first of a three-game series against the Blue Jays (40-45) by a score of 2-1 on Monday evening in Toronto. The Mets went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position, and the offense once again failed to add any run support for the struggling club. The club loses its 50th game of the season, now 15 games below .500, the end of June nears.

Sean Manaea got the start for New York, tossing five and 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, with two walks and four strikeouts. The lefty took the loss, now owning a 1-3 record and 4.71 ERA on the season.
The Blue Jays struck first, putting up a run in the first on a George Springer triple, where he scored on an A.J. Ewing fielding error. They added another run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
New York added a run in the top of the seventh on a Francisco Lindor homer, making it 2-1 Jays.
The club tried to scrape together a rebound in the ninth, when a one-out single by Jared Young and a walk drawn by A.J. Ewing put runners on base, but Mark Vientos and Ronny Mauricio both struck out to end the game.
Out of the bullpen, Austin Warren tossed one and 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit, while walking two and striking out two. Joey Gerber closed it out for New York with a scoreless frame, including two strikeouts.

ON DECK
Nolan McLean (4-5, 4.03 ERA) will get the start for New York on Tuesday. In his last outing vs. the Cubs, the starter allowed six runs on seven hits over six innings pitched, walking two and striking out nine.
Kevin Gausman (4-6, 4.36 ERA) will take the mound for the Jays. In his last time out against the Rangers, he tossed six innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
