As reported by Michael Mayer of Metsmerized, it was announced on Friday afternoon that the Mets have claimed right-handed pitcher Nick Tropeano off of waivers from the San Francisco Giants and was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Tropeano, the Mets moved right-handed pitcher Tommy Hunter to the 60-day injured list.

This won’t be Tropeano’s first stint with the Mets. While he didn’t play in any games in his first stint with the Mets, he was with the organization from October 30, 2020 to December 2, 2020. He was claimed off waivers to join the Mets the first time as well, but was later non-tendered.

Tropeano was signed by the Giants as a free agent in February. This season at the big league level, Tropeano is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in four games appeared in. He has struck out two in six innings pitched.

At the Triple-A level in 2021, Tropeano is 1-0 with a 2.79 ERA. He has appeared in three games and pitched 9 2/3 innings. He has struck out 13 and has a WHIP of 1.45.

Since being drafted in 2011 by the Astros, Tropeano has spent time with the Astros, Angels, Yankees, Pirates, Mets in 2020, San Francisco in 2021, and now back to the Mets.
