Mets acting GM Zack Scott spoke to the media in front of the dugout on Friday before the team started their series with the San Diego Padres.

Scott said that injured starter Carlos Carrasco (torn hamstring) received a PRP injection in his leg because he wasn’t able to strengthen it the way he wanted. Carrasco hasn’t thrown a pitch since early May in a simulated game. He first suffered the hamstring injury in March.

Scott still believes that it’s possible we see Carrasco return at some point in July.

Now to the potentially good news on the injury front: Scott expects that Jeff McNeil (left hamstring strain) will return to the Mets by next weekend. He’s expected to start a rehab assignment this weekend. Scott also expects that outfielder Michael Conforto (right hamstring strain) to return a week after McNeil.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports that Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo learned he is not dealing with a nerve issue but actually a small ligament tear near the base of his left index finger after getting a second opinion. The injury should heal on its own and Nimmo hopes to start a rehab assignment next week.
