The Mets announced Monday afternoon that they have claimed right-hander Jake Reed off of waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. The Mets become Reed’s fourth organization in 2021, and he will report to Miami to join the taxi squad.

In six games in the majors in 2021, Reed has a 3.38 ERA, five strikeouts, and one walk in 5 1/3 innings. In 18 minor league games, Reed has a 5.24 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings.

Reed is a former fifth round pick by the Minnesota Twins in 2014 out of the University of Oregon.

The Mets lost left-hander Anthony Banda on waivers, he was claimed by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday.

Banda appeared in five games for the Mets before he was DFA’d last week. He had a 7.36 ERA and seven strikeouts in 7 1/3 innings.
