After an emotional evening last night, the Mets (84-74) bounced back to defeat the Miami Marlins (78-79) by a score of 12-1 tonight at Marlins Park. The Cardinals are winning against the Reds tonight, and the Giants just started so we will have to wait for the wild card standings later on tonight.

Pitching:

Noah Syndergaard returned from strep throat tonight to face the Marlins, and pitched well, firing six innings of one run ball, scattering five hits and struck out eight. Syndergaard improves to 14-9 on the season with a 2.60 ERA.

Fernando Salas pitched a lock down seventh, and Addison Reed pitched a clean eighth as a bridge to Jeurys Familia.

Familia came on with an 11 run lead, and sealed the win for the Amazin’s.

Offense:

The Mets touched the Marlins up for 12 runs on 19 hits tonight in Miami. Seven different Mets had at least two hits tonight.

After the Marlins took a 1-0 lead in the first, Jay Bruce put the Mets in front, launching a two-run shot to right.

Yoenis Cespedes then doubled the score, launching his 31st homer of the year. 4-1 Mets.

In the eighth, the Mets blew the doors off the game, scoring five runs, three of which came on a base clearing double from Lucas Duda.

Just for good measure, the Mets put up a three spot in the ninth to make it 12-1.

Lucas Duda and Curtis Granderson each had three RBI.

The Mets Magic Number to make the postseason is now four.
