Jay Bruce and Lucas Duda put together great nights at the plate in Tuesday’s 12-1 victory over Miami, as both look to be back in a big way.

With just four games left in the regular season, Bruce and Duda flexed some muscle Tuesday night. Bruce was 2-for-5 on the night with a game changing two-run bomb and two RBI.

“I think we got back to business as usual a little bit,” Bruce said. (Newsday)

Bruce has started to show signs of coming around, and is looking more like the player the team believed they were trading for. Over his last seven games, he has hit to a .316/.316/.684 slash line with two homers and three RBI. It could not be a better time for him to come up big.

As Bruce comes around, the return of Duda has shown some immediate impact to the lineup. Lucas was 2-for-3 on the night with a bases clearing three-run double and two walks.

“It’s nice to contribute and I’m glad we’re winning,” Duda said. “I think the more that I play, the more comfortable I get.”

Since his return from the Disabled List on September 18, Duda has hit to a .333/.474/.467 slash line with four RBI. He has looked good at the plate so far, lengthening an already strong lineup.

With Tuesday’s win, the Mets kept their Wild Card lead of a half game over San Francisco and a one and a half game lead over St. Louis. The Cardinals and Giants both kept pace with the Mets Tuesday night with respective victories.

The season continues to tick down with just four games remaining for the Mets as their magic number falls to four as well.
