The New York Mets announced they have agreed on a one-year contract with Neil Walker to avoid arbitration. The deal is worth $10.55 million.

Walker made $8 million with the Pirates last season and was requesting $11.8 million. The Mets were countering at $9.4 million.

That leaves only closer Jeurys Familia who has yet to settle with the Mets. Familia, who tied the franchise record with 43 saves last season, requested a raise from $524,000 to $4.8 million while the Mets submitted an offer of $3.3 million.

Previous Report – Jan. 22

The Mets have avoided arbitration cases with both Lucas Duda and Jenrry Mejia, signing them both to one-year contracts. Duda will make $6.725 million this season while Mejia will get $2.47 million, reports MLB Nework’s Jon Heyman.

For Duda, the Mets had filed at $5.9 million while Duda filed at $7.4 million, meaning he received slightly more than the midpoint of $6.65 million. He has earned himself a significant raise over the $4.3 million he made in 2015.

Mejia, on the other hand, will see his salary dip a bit, from the $2.595 million he made last year. He requested that his salary remain the same, while the Mets countered with $2.345 million.

Duda will certainly be one of the biggest bargains on the roster in his second year of arbitration eligibility. In 2015, he posted a .244/.352/.486 slash line with 27 home runs and a 3.1 fWAR.

Mejia, on the other hand, appeared in only seven games for the Mets last year after coming back from a PED suspension. However, he was soon suspended again, and will serve out the remainder of his 162-game sentence this season. He will not be paid while suspended, so his $2.47 million salary will be prorated.

That leaves just Jeurys Familia and Neil Walker who have yet to reach a settlement with the team. Arbitration hearings beginning next month.

Familia, who tied the franchise record with 43 saves last season, requested a raise from $524,000 to $4.8 million while the Mets submitted an offer of $3.3 million.

Second baseman Neil Walker made $8 million with the Pirates last season and is requesting $11.8 million, with the Mets countering at $9.4 million.
