Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Mets and the Houston Astros are showing interest in Yasmani Grandal for improvements from the catcher position.

Grandal, 29, hit .241/.349/.466 with 24 home runs and 68 RBI to give him a .815 OPS and 125 wRC+ on the season in 2018.

Defensively, his FRAA was 16.3, which was the best in the league while he led the league in framing runs with 15.7 as well. He caught a little more than 27% of baserunners from behind the dish.

All in all, that gave him a 3.6 WAR on the year which, despite a poor postseason performance that saw him benched in favor of Austin Barnes, still led to him being given a qualifying offer by the Dodgers.

Jon Heyman of Fancred currently projects him to get a two-year, $20 million contract this offseason, while the expert he wrote the article with expects him to get a three-year, $39 million contract.
