Multiple reports came out late on Friday night that the New York Mets could be nearing a deal that sends closer Jeurys Familia to the Oakland Athletics.

Jon Morosi of MLB Network confirmed that the A’s have made progress in a deal that would send Familia to Oakland, and that multiple prospects have been discussed.

Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle first disclosed the Athletics interest in Familia.

Familia was not used in a typical save situation on Friday night for the Mets in their 7-5 over the New York Yankees.

The 28-year-old Familia has been enjoying strong campaign as the Mets closer with a 2.88 ERA, a 2.53 FIP and a 1.23 WHIP in 40.2 innings. He has yet to allow an earned run in July over seven innings.

Oakland will add to an already strong bullpen, led by 2018 breakout stars Blake Treinen and Lou Trivino.
