April was the start of something fresh for the Mets.  Terry Collins was the new face in the Mets dugout, Sandy Alderson was the new face of the front office, and things were starting to get better for the Mets.  Well, not exactly.

After a long spring, opening day was here, and fans were cautiously optimistic as they usually are with the team.

As we all know, April wasn’t as kind to the Mets as we all hoped it would be.  They were off to a terrible start and went went 5-13 in the month of April.  Questions arose about the team, and its poor start to the month of April.

However, things started to change when the calendar turned to May. The Mets have started to turn things around, and have won three series in a row against the Astros, Rockies, and Dodgers.

On a side note, with the series-clinching win against Houston yesterday, the Mets are tied with the Nats for last-place.  I know, its not something to be happy about, but the way i see it, its improvement from last month when they were alone in last place and 8.5 games back.

During the month of May, the Mets are 8-5, and have gone 14-8 after a terrible 5-13 start to the season. During this recent road-trip, the Mets finished up at 4-2 and are now hoping to continue the success they had on the road at home against the Marlins at Citi Field tonight.

I am very impressed with how this team has played over the past week and a half.  Despite how nicely the rotation has pitched of late, with the injuries to Ike Davis, Pedro Beato and Angel Pagan, I figured that the Mets were in for a bit of trouble. They proved me wrong.

The bullpen has been very effective and the offense has come through in timely spots and even added on runs late. Recent call-ups like Jason Pridie and Justin Turner have steeped up for the Amazins’ as well.  Its great to see guys step in like that when key players go down.

As the Mets come home to face the Marlins tonight, I want to see the Mets continue their recent success and continue to fight their way back up through the standings.
