I thought it was interesting listening to Andy Martino on Daily News Live on Thursday, who essentially said the Mets have lost all their gains and all the cushion they had from their 11-game winning streak.

“Once the Mets had that streak I thought it was enough of an over-performance to get to 87 wins and a wild card.”

“You know what they just did during this road trip? They gave back all of that math. So now it’s basically back to ground zero as if that winning streak never happened.”

Meanwhile, co-host Sal Licata took it one step further, saying all the worst fears of the last 50 plus games have been realized, and there’s too many of them to believe that this is a good team.

“I’ve been saying it for a while and this road trip just cemented it. The Mets are just not a good team, they’re not. Something needs to be done. They need better baseball players.”

To which Martino capped it off by saying this is no longer the same team we saw for three weeks in April.

“Essentially these Mets are the Las Vegas 51s with a good major league rotation. That’s not going to win you anything.”

“After five years, the question remains the same, where’s the offense? Where are the bats?”
