Smith, the Mets No. 2 prospect was drafted 11th overall in the 2013 first-year players draft, and hit to a .302/.367/.457 clip with 14 long balls and 91 RBIs in 130 games for Double-A Binghamton last season.
Right-handed pitcher Chris Flexen, shortstop Amed Rosario, right-handed pitcher Marcos Molina, outfielder Wuilmer Becerra and catcher Tomas Nido were added to the 40-man roster earlier this offseason meaning they get an automatic invite to big league camp.
Right-handed submariner Ben Rowen was signed to a minor league deal last month and also received an invite to major league camp. Everyone that is on the 40-man roster comes to big league camp.
