The New York Mets announced on Thursday their complete coaching staff under manager Buck Showalter. The veteran begins his second season with the Mets following a 101-win first year that ended in a disappointing series loss in the newly formatted Wild Card round.

  • Danny Barnes — Assistant Major League Coach
  • Jeremy Barnes — Hitting Coach
  • Eric Chavez — Bench Coach
  • Dom Chiti — Bullpen Coach
  • Joey Cora — Infield and Third Base Coach
  • Jeremy Hefner — Pitching Coach
  • Eric Hinske — Assistant Hitting Coach
  • Wayne Kirby — Outfield and First Base Coach
  • Glenn Sherlock — Catching and Strategy Coach

Changes to the staff include Chavez being moving from the hitting coach to bench coach with Jeremy Barnes moving up from his role as assistant hitting coach. The move pushes Sherlock from the bench coach to the catching and strategy coach. The Mets made the move in reaction to multiple teams showing interest in Barnes becoming their primary hitting coach.

The newcomers to the staff are Dom Chiti and Eric Hinske. This will be Dom Chiti’s third time working under Showalter after serving in roles together in Baltimore and Texas. Hinske worked with GM Billy Eppler in 2018, serving as the hitting coach for the Los Angeles Angels. Chiti spent the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Angels as their bullpen coach and Hinkse was the Arizona Diamondbacks assistant hitting coach in 2021.
