The Mets have acquired veteran catcher Robinson Chirinos from the Rangers according to Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic.

Chirinos, 37, has a .367 OPS this season. Chirinos has a team option of $6.5 million for 2021 that has a $1 buyout.

The right-handed hitter had 22 doubles and 17 home runs during the 2019 season. The Mets showed interest in signing him this past offseason.

The Mets will send a player to be named later to the Rangers to complete the trade.
