We’re not exactly sure when the New York Mets will actually take the field for the 2022 season yet thanks to the lockout, but whenever they do, the club officially has a full coaching staff ready for it. And on Monday at 1 pm ET, general manager Billy Eppler and manager Buck Showalter are going to talk about that.

New York officially named its full coaching staff on Friday, with the following guys working under Showalter:

Of this group, Hefner and Barnes were the only ones with the organization last year. Hefner was the team’s pitching coach, while Barnes was the Director of Player Intiatives. Sherlock returns to the Mets after leaving in 2019. He spent time as the third base and first base coach, as well as the catching instructor.

Bjornson’s position is the same one he held from 2018-20 with the Boston Red Sox, helping the organization win a World Series title in 2018. Chavez, of course, had been hired by the New York Yankees a couple of weeks prior to the Mets announcing he’d be their hitting coach.

Cora has piled up multiple stops during his coaching career as both a third base coach and bench coach. Most recently, he coached third base and was an infield coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2017-21. Kirby has previous ties with Showalter, as he was his first base coach with the Baltimore Orioles from 2011-18. Most recently, the 57-year-old held the same job with the San Diego Padres from 2020-21.

The Mets were looking to make wholesale changes to the club after a disappointing 2021 campaign. They began remaking the roster prior to the lockout, and with Hefner being the only coach returning to the dugout, there will be a lot of new voices for the players in 2022.

The press conference will be streamed, you can follow along here once 1 pm ET hits.
