I reported on Tuesday morning that Mets 2020 first round pick Pete Crow-Armstrong was likely headed for surgery, and the Mets confirmed that report Tuesday afternoon.

The Mets have announced today that minor league outfielder Crow-Armstrong will undergo surgery on his right shoulder for a GLAD lesion (glenoid labral articular disruption).

Crow-Armstrong underwent a physical examination and MRI that revealed a tear of the labrum as well as injury to the articular cartilage of the shoulder earlier this week. Mets Medical Director Dr. David Altchek has confirmed the diagnosis and the surgery will be performed in the coming weeks by Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

Important to note that Crow-Armstrong is a left-handed hitter and thrower.

Crow-Armstrong, MMO’s No. 4 Mets prospect, was hitting .417/.563/.500 for the Low-A St. Lucie Mets before the injury occurred last week when he was sliding into a base.
