Las Vegas 51s 6, Sacramento River Cats 1

The 51s improved to 3-0 this season with a win last night against the River Cats behind good pitching from Collin McHugh and a three-run sixth inning.

Before Collin McHugh allowed his first and only run on the evening, the 51s had already given him four runs. A sacrifice fly by D’Arnaud in the third drove in Brian Bixler and Eric Campbell picked up a sac fly of his own in the sixth. Of course, Josh Satin refused to be left out of the action, as he drilled his two-run home run in the sixth as well. Jamie Hoffman and Andrew Brown added RBI singles in the eighth and ninth to wrap up the scoring for Vegas.

McHugh was solid overall, as he pitched into the sixth and allowed two of his four hits against in that inning – along with a HBP. Luckily for him, Robert Carson came in and stranded two runners to get out of the inning, and he combined with Greg Peavey to pitch a scoreless rest of the game.

It was a simple case of taking care of business down in Vegas for the 51s. Both the Binghamton Mets and the Las Vegas 51s are undefeated…how about that?
