Max Scherzer is reportedly set to make his second rehab start for Double-A Binghamton as he inches his way back from an oblique injury. He will pitch Tuesday for the Rumble Ponies as Scherzer and Binghamton will take on the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies affiliate). The game is slated to begin at 7:05 P.M. ET in Connecticut.
Scherzer made his first rehab start for Binghamton last Tuesday. He pitched 3 1/3rd innings spanning 65 pitches. During the outing, he gave up three hits, two runs, and walked one. Scherzer also had six strikeouts, five of which were swinging.
The three hits Scherzer gave up were late in his outing. Each of which were extra-base hits via hard contact. The Reading Fightin Phils got the Max with two consecutive doubles in the third inning which brought home a run. Then, in the following inning, he allowed a solo home run. This spelled the end to his outing.

It was originally reported that Scherzer may start Sunday’s game in Miami. However, this report was proven to be untrue as David Peterson got the start. Scherzer, himself, expressed the want to get back to the big leagues as soon as possible after his first outing.
However, he also noted he needed to wait to see how he felt before making the decision as rushing back and re-injuring himself would do nobody any good. After discussion, apparently, both Max and the Mets feel that Scherzer would benefit from another rehab start.
