New York Mets left-hander Steven Matz got the start tonight for the Advanced-A St. Lucie Mets in his first rehab appearance.

Matz threw three innings, allowing one run on two hits, two walks and three strikeouts. He tossed 53 pitches while sitting 93-94 MPH with his fastball and topping out at 95. He also got a strike out looking on a knee buckling curveball and mixed in his changeup as well.

After the start, Matz continued throwing in the bullpen to get some more work in. It was the first time Matz had thrown in a game since Spring Training as he dealt with with a strained flexor tendon in his throwing elbow.

Right-hander Seth Lugo came in to pitch in the fourth inning for the first since being diagnosed with a slight UCL tear in his right elbow.

Lugo threw 3.2 scoreless innings and topped out at 96 MPH with his fastball. He allowed just two hits, walked no one and struck out none.

Travis d’Arnaud began his rehab assignment as well behind the plate for St. Lucie. Travis went 2 for 4 with two line drive singles and caught seven innings.
