The Mets host the Miami Marlins at 1:10 p.m. Saturday (WPIX) as Grapefruit League play continues at Tradition Field.

Fifth-starter candidate John Lannan makes his Mets debut, opposite right-hander Kevin SloweyVic BlackScott RiceKyle FarnsworthJosh EdginRyan Reid, John ChurchSteven Matz and Cory Mazzoni also are scheduled to pitch for the Mets.

Lannan is competing with Daisuke Matsuzaka and Jenrry Mejia for the fifth spot in the rotation. At 29, a lefty and with a reasonable contract, Lannan is somebody the Mets should be paying close attention to.
