Are you guys ready for a second helping of Luis Castillo this season? Or are you like me and hoping he takes his sweet ass time returning from the disabled list?

There may be some clues that Jerry Manuel feels the same way we do on the matter. You just can’t take Damion Easley out of the lineup! I mean like, come on… Why in the world should we take the one player who has literally carried this team in the past ten days and send him back to the bench?

Here is what Jerry said when the topic came up after last night’s game, courtesy of the NY Post.

Jerry Manuel had an interesting response when asked if Damion Easley’s recent hot streak could earn him the starting job at second base even after Luis Castillo returns from the disabled list. Easley, who committed a first-inning error in last night’s 7-0 win over San Francisco, is batting .459 (17-for-37) with eight RBI during a 10-game hitting streak.

"That’s a good question and that’s one that we’ll probably have to evaluate," Manuel said. "Because of his versatility and if we need that bat (in the lineup), we can play (Easley) at other places and feel very good about him being in the game. His versatility allows us a lot of freedom to continue to get him plate appearances. It depends on how he holds up, how he’s doing physically."

I’m really starting to like this Manuel guy. He really is a gangsta!
