Mets star shortstop Francisco Lindor is out of the lineup on Thursday as the Mets begin their four-game series in LA against the Dodgers. Lindor slammed the middle finger on his throwing hand in a door at the hotel.

Mets manager Buck Showalter initially said that Lindor might be able to DH on Thursday, but they decided to play it cautious with him out of the lineup.

Lindor says that the finger is black and blue and that it’s swollen too. He noted that he couldn’t get a good grip on a baseball.

Lindor is in the midst of a 10-game RBI streak that is tied with Mike Piazza for the second-longest in team history. The switch-hitter was also the National League Player of the Week last week.

The Mets are already playing down a position player because they recalled reliever Adonis Medina when they demoted Dominic Smith earlier this week.

The red-hot Luis Guillorme will bat third and play shortstop for the Mets on Thursday.
